As there is a "farm" in the school premises, we decided to create a small "european" orchard. The activity took the whole morning, and was organised in such a way that different classes (two or three at a time) of all age levels could take part.
Some pupils from the Gardening class were in charge of the plantation, under the supervision of their teacher, in cooperation with a Biology teacher. These made a short oral presentation in which they explained the aim of the project, and raised awareness about the importance of planting trees in an urban environment. All the participants were given two flyers containing this information, as well as instructions on how to plant trees.
We'll cherish our "baby" trees, as a symbol of renewed hope in a better future.
